About the role
Eaton’s Electrical Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Transformer Repair Technician– 3rd Shift to join our team!
Responsibilities
- Investigate transformer failures, defects, and engineering change requests (ECNs) to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, tear-down, inspection, and repair activities on transformers returned from production or the field.
- Disassemble, evaluate, and document components to determine repairability, reuse opportunities, or disposition requirements.
- Conduct mechanical and electrical testing to validate failure modes and confirm repair effectiveness.
- Perform un-tanking, unstacking, and other transformer tear-down processes using cranes, lifting devices, and hand tools.
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, Production, and Service teams to resolve product issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Create and maintain accurate records, repairs, investigation findings, DMTs, DMRs, ECRs, and repair status updates.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute ideas that improve product performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by helping implement design and process modifications that prevent future failures.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, assembling, or troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical equipment.
Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, hydraulic, or industrial equipment.
- Experience diagnosing equipment failures and determining root causes.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical fundamentals and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience reading electrical schematics, drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Experience welding, fabrication, or equipment repair.
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, or other material handling equipment.
- Military maintenance experience or technical trade school education is a plus.
Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and curiosity to understand how equipment works.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues.
- Ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Comfortable using a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and process documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple repair priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as required.
