About the Role
As a Transformation Specialist at MyMichigan Health, you will improve the performance of care processes by providing analytics, technology, and consulting services that facilitate better decision-making and operational efficiency. You will identify and facilitate value improvement initiatives and waste elimination projects using methodologies such as A3, Lean, Six Sigma, and innovation frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Assist leadership teams in establishing project strategies, developing project plans, and providing consulting on process improvement methodologies (25%).
- Improve workflows by helping leaders develop A3 problem-solving and innovation projects to gain efficiencies and reduce errors (25%).
- Diagnose process improvement opportunities and develop solutions using problem-solving fundamentals, statistical models, and other appropriate methods (10%).
- Promote, educate, and instill a culture of continuous improvement (10%).
- Assist in developing strategies to eliminate process variation and standardize care processes (10%).
- Build effective and trusting working relationships with staff at all levels, including frontline employees, administrators, and clinical leaders (10%).
- Provide technical assistance and education to hospital departments to help meet objectives.
- Apply business consulting, analytics, business intelligence, management engineering, and operations research methodologies and tools.
- Perform business case analysis and feasibility studies, examining costs, benefits, and risks associated with proposed projects.
- Recommend solution alternatives and highlight strategic implications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Health Care, Industrial & Operational Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Quantitative Analytics discipline) is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Relevant process improvement, project management, and/or innovation certification (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt, PMP, Strategyzer) is preferred.
- Experience in project management and change management.
- Ability to work in both clinic and hospital environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred knowledge and experience with Excel, Word, Visio, JMP, and other related software.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Overall dexterity is required, including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and stressful situations.
- Vision capabilities, including reading and close-up work.
- Hearing and speech abilities for communication in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- Must be able to freely move around the department or hospital.
- Frequent public contact, decision-making, and exposure to stress.
- Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
- Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials.
- Must be able to work in a latex environment.
