Transfer Station Spotter

About the role

The Spotter is responsible for safely and efficiently directing vehicle drivers to the proper areas within landfill, transfer stations, or recycling centers, ensuring compliance with publicly posted safety rules. This role involves inspecting incoming loads for unacceptable waste and removing such items before disposal.

Responsibilities

• Follow all Company safety policies and procedures, including proper vehicle approach and signal communication.
• Maintain use of personal protective equipment at all times.
• Enforce publicly-posted safety rules and unposted safety standards.
• Direct vehicles to the proper area of the facility based on the site fill plan.
• Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove unsegregated items like tires, batteries, and other prohibited materials.
• Communicate with equipment operators regarding special waste loads or those requiring special attention.
• Complete daily closing tasks according to guidelines and procedures.
• Perform general labor duties on an as-needed basis, including site clean-up, yard work, and building maintenance.

Qualifications

• One year of previous experience working around heavy machinery.
• Ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges.
• Able to adhere to Company policies and rules, promoting safety standards and integrity.
• Maintain a sense of pride in work and strive to achieve goals.
