Transfer Press Operator-1st Shift

About the Role

Operate a 1500 Ton Transfer Press or machine tools to shape and form metal products or parts. Be responsible for operating, adjusting, and maintaining presses and tools to ensure quality production at expected levels.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate presses (mechanically or computer-driven) to produce parts.
• Perform operations such as blanking, drawing, punching, and forming on a variety of materials based on blueprints and instructions.
• Follow the control plan and perform in-process inspections.
• Perform and document required visual and physical quality inspections as indicated by the Control Plan.
• Read, interpret, and comply with production work orders.
• Configure equipment, calibrate gauge settings, recognize die conditions, load materials, feed material through dies, and position/remove parts.
• Complete daily paperwork and use computers for data entry.
• Identify and handle non-conforming products and scrap during/after production.
• Handle finished products and corresponding documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance (cleaning, oiling, lubricating machines) and report faults.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
• Assist in training other employees as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S standards.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards in the workplace.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1+ year of experience operating presses or in a related area.

Skills

• Basic knowledge of quality control, cost reduction, materials, and production processes.
• Basic knowledge of press operation.
• Proficiency in English (grammar, language) and Math.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions.
• Ability to prepare documents, production sheets, and reports accurately.
• Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Factory setting requiring walking and standing for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 75 pounds.
• Continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements while operating machinery.
• Regular stooping, bending, and twisting.
• Fast-paced environment with standard 40-hour weeks; overtime and weekends as needed.
• Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise (frequently loud at 90 dBA).
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.
• Non-air-conditioned, variable-temperature factory setting.
• May require random drug/alcohol testing, pre-employment physical, and background checks.

Schedule

1st Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM, with overtime and weekends as needed.
