About the role
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Transfer Machine Operator in our Asphalt division. The transfer machine operator is responsible for efficiently and safely moving hot mix asphalt from delivery trucks to the paver, ensuring a consistent material flow for high-quality paving operations. They perform daily equipment checks, make minor adjustments as needed, coordinate with the paving crew, and maintain strict adherence to safety and job site procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt transfer machines to move and distribute hot mix asphalt from trucks to pavers efficiently and safely
- Monitor and control material flow to ensure consistent supply to the paving operation
- Adjust machine settings and conveyor speed to maintain proper asphalt placement and minimize material loss
- Cookordinate with truck drivers, paver operators, and crew members to maintain smooth workflow
- Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and minor troubleshooting on transfer equipment
- Identify and report any mechanical issues or operational concerns to supervisors promptly
- Follow project plans, job specifications, and safety protocols, including traffic control and hot mix handling procedures
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, ensuring proper handling of asphalt and equipment
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating asphalt transfer machines on commercial or highway projects
- Travel Requirements: Daily travel required, Must have reliable transportation
- Strong understanding of hot mix asphalt handling, material flow, and distribution techniques
- Skilled in setting up, adjusting, and operating transfer equipment for efficient and precise asphalt placement
- Ability to read and follow project plans, paving layouts, and job specifications accurately
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, minor troubleshooting, and equipment care
- Ability to coordinate effectively with truck drivers, paver operators, and the paving crew to maintain smooth production
- Commitment to strict adherence to job site safety protocols, traffic control, and hot mix handling procedures
