Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant in the Century City office to support attorneys in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group.
About the role
The legal assistant will provide technical, organizational, and administrative support in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, handling multiple projects with prioritization and flexibility. Collaboration with firm personnel at all levels is integral to the role.
Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, including agreements, corporate filings, and correspondence.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of corporate documents, such as formation documents, resolutions, and annual reports in various jurisdictions.
- Conduct conflict checks and handle new matters, including preparing engagement letters and managing client and case documents.
- Work closely with attorneys and paralegals to prepare and file official correspondence using the Firm’s standards and procedures.
- Communicate regularly with the team and double-check work product before presenting to attorneys for review and before sending or filing.
- Must be available and able to work during core business hours.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities while working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, plus substantial and relevant work experience.
- A Bachelor's degree or some college is preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in Windows 11, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and Teams.
- Experience working with a document management system.
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and systems.
Work Environment
- Indoor office work environment in a cubicle or workstation with limited exposure to hazards.
- Expected to work onsite at least four days per week, with the flexibility to work from home for the remaining day (subject to change).
- Overtime may be required as job duties demand.
Pay
The salary range for this position in California is $26.00 - $62.00 per hour.
