Training Technician

You will serve as a Training Technician at the USDA Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Center for Agricultural Safeguarding Training. You will work closely with specialists in the field of training and education to ensure accomplishment of education and training programs regarding safeguarding American agriculture and natural resources.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:

  • Gather, review, process, organize, or summarize data for reports, projects, research papers, presentations, or management requests.
  • Create, edit, or revise spreadsheets, typed documents, presentations, databases or emails, using computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Outlook.
  • Prepare, edit, or finalize administrative documents, memorandums, schedules, project documents, project materials, reports, spreadsheets or other clerical, project, or training related documents or files.

Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, format, proofread, edit and finalize management plans, analysis reports, design documents, instructional materials (e.g., tests, case studies, practice exercises, handouts, storyboards), cover memoranda, and/or reports.
  • Perform clerical and administrative services as needed including record keeping, preparing meeting minutes, arranging conferences and/or meetings, making reservations, and planning/arranging facility requirements and associated services.
  • Serve as primary training support provider for various training needs including learning management system functions, training material tracking and preparation, and classroom preparation.
  • Use current technologies in instructions and trends in online learning practices to support production and delivery of training courses.
  • Deliver basic presentations and training evaluations to training participants.
  • Gather, review, tabulate, and summarize data collected from various evaluation instruments to formulate recommendations for improving training.

Pay

Salary Offered: $51,957 - $67,543 USD Per Year
