The Training Support Specialist provides guidance, coaching, and preparation for employees in alignment with Hoyleton’s CARE practice model. Under the supervision of the Training Supervisor, this role collaborates with program and department leaders, as well as Human Resources, to ensure employees are effectively trained and supported.

  • Deliver training to pre-hire participants if applicable.
  • Remain current on practices related to adult learning and engagement.
  • Contribute to the improvement of agency model knowledge and practice of concepts in orientation curriculum.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to increase leader knowledge and application of model principles.
  • Train staff in TCI and CARE; observe practice, provide immediate coaching, and assess application of CARE and TCI principles with reporting to program leadership.
  • Observe staff / youth interactions and provide in the moment coaching, concept connection and reflection.
  • Conduct refreshers on agency and program approved models.
  • Aid supervisors in integrating CARE and TCI concepts into team meetings.
  • Cochair training-related meetings.
  • Document training assignments and attendance.
  • Report training compliance to program leadership and collaboration on plans for improvement.
  • Use data to identify training gaps and identify resources to close those gaps.
  • Participate in CARE and TCI Community of Practice opportunities.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Aid with new employee orientation and training; with a heavy focus on agency models during congregate care staff onboarding.

Support job role and individual development plans.

Support staff in accessing training assignments.

Collaborate with program leadership to increase leader knowledge and application of model principles.

Train staff in TCI and CARE; observe practice, provide immediate coaching, and assess application of CARE and TCI principles with reporting to program leadership.

Observe staff / youth interactions and provide in the moment coaching, concept connection and reflection.

This may include evening and weekend hours as scheduled and planned.

The training partner must step away from direct client contact during any crisis.

Conduct refreshers on agency and program approved models.

Assist supervisors in integrating CARE and TCI concepts into team meetings.

Cochair training-related meetings.

Document training assignments and attendance.

Report training compliance to program leadership and collaboration on plans for improvement.

Use data to identify training gaps and identify resources to close those gaps.

Participate in CARE and TCI Community of Practice opportunities.

Requirements

  • Understanding trauma, separation, and loss experienced by youth in care.
  • Ability to deliver culturally responsive services.
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various learning styles.
  • Must meet DCFS/CANTS Clearance Requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain proof of automobile insurance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, or human services field along with one (1) year of experience in a Residential setting OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of experience in a Residential setting is required.
  • Must have or obtain CARE Educator and TCI Trainer certification required within one year of hire.
  • Training experience preferred.

Work Conditions

  • This position operates in the Hoyleton residential environment but may require travel to other agency sites based on role responsibilities.
  • The role involves periods of walking, standing, or sitting, and may occasionally require climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, or lifting materials up to 30 pounds, depending on job duties.
  • Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor temperatures may occur depending on program needs and client-related activities.
