About the Role
Plan, coordinate, and implement all in-house training and educational activities for maintenance personnel in the Transit Department. Provide training on a variety of preventative and diagnostic maintenance processes and procedures, conduct research into specialized training classes, and evaluate current training programs. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate training and educational activities for transit maintenance personnel; provide training on preventative and diagnostic maintenance processes and procedures.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing training services; implement policies and procedures.
- Monitor program performance; recommend and implement modifications to systems and procedures.
- Research and plan specialized training activities and classes, including in-service training for department staff; coordinate, schedule, and conduct training activities.
- Promote and coordinate specific activities within the training program, including course schedules and specialized training programs; prepare program materials such as flyers, schedules, pamphlets, and brochures.
- May plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of lower-level staff.
- May schedule usage of meeting facilities for training events, classes, and activities; provide information and assistance to users of facilities.
- Maintain records and develop reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness; track training event attendance; maintain and file training reports; prepare statistical reports as required.
- May prepare budget considerations; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
- May provide specialized training regarding the ADA population and comprehensive CDL training.
- Monitor program compliance with laws, rules, and regulations related to training and related services.
- Develop survey instruments; conduct surveys of program participants to determine needs; interpret and record survey results; implement program changes in response to results.
- Maintain awareness of new developments in organizational training; incorporate new developments into programs as appropriate.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- May supervise shops and personnel in the absence of Transit Supervisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in organizational training, adult education, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair of Class 1 through 8 vehicles, including one (1) year of organizational training experience.
- One (1) year of direct supervisory or technical lead experience in an administrative capacity.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) for the past two (2) continuous years.
- Possession of a valid City of Albuquerque Operator Permit (COP) within 90 days from date of hire.
- Possession of a valid AC Recovery certification within 90 days from date of hire.
- Possession of a valid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) license within 90 days from date of hire.
HVAC maintenance and repair experience on Class 1 through 8 vehicles preferred.
Working Conditions
- Office environment; may include field environment with exposure to noise, gas, fumes, and inclement weather conditions.
- Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
