About the role
The Training Specialist, Student Staff Selection and Training supports the recruitment, selection, and training of over 300 undergraduate and graduate student leaders who serve in various student leadership roles across diverse residential communities. These communities house approximately 12,000 students in residence halls and apartments.
Responsibilities
- Selects and trains student leaders, coordinating the application, interview, selection, and placement process for over 300 student leaders.
- Maintains ongoing communication with permanent staff to support consistent implementation of the selection process.
- Develops and implements recruitment and marketing strategies for Residence Education student leader positions.
- Coordinates electronic management and migration of personnel files within a shared database.
- Develops annual feedback processes for student leaders under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Staff Training and Development.
- Manages electronic communication and email correspondence for ResStaff, including sending timely updates, responding to inquiries, and maintaining organized email records.
- Creates, designs, and coordinates training and ongoing development for student leaders to support their ability to assist residents and foster inclusive, engaged communities.
- Affords leadership, guidance, and facilitation support to supervisors of student leaders to promote meaningful and impactful training experiences.
- Presents to internal Residence Education staff to enhance training delivery and innovation.
- Supports assessment efforts related to training effectiveness while working under the direction of the Assistant Director to evaluate and improve training outcomes.
- Assists the Assistant Director of Selection and Training in the training process of student leaders.
Requirements
- Master's degree in related fields of study, such as Higher Education, Social Work, or social sciences.
- One year full-time experience in student affairs and/or related educational services work.
- Experience developing administrative procedures and training others.
Qualifications
- Desired Qualifications include experience in student supervision/advising and program leadership, familiarity with Human Resources processes and practices, and proven ability to lead projects with attention to detail and build collaborative relationships.
