About the Role
As a Learning and Professional Development Specialist, you'll provide training to the Community Based Care initiative, developing and implementing associated quality improvement strategies to strengthen child welfare services in Desoto, Manatee, and Sarasota Counties. You will analyze and recommend improvements to the system through training initiatives. This position also serves as a Job Coach, providing mentoring, support, coaching, and guidance to new staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local laws, contracts, accreditation standards, and policies and procedures.
- Research current best practices, regulatory, and accreditation compliance standards, as well as CBC policy and procedure, and integrate them into CBC trainings.
- Provide up-to-date information regarding current federal and state rules, contract requirements, procedures, and policies affecting CBC.
- Support professional development initiatives by assimilating recommendations from analysis activities into training tools to ensure effective deployment of processes and support/retention of skilled resources.
- Provide support, direction, and guidance to child welfare staff.
- Assess child welfare staff competency to perform child welfare services under standard supervision.
- Recommend child welfare professionals for required certification based on assessment of skills, competencies, and abilities.
- Promote and participate in agency-wide continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Represent community-based care professionally to community groups, including speaking engagements and other public relation functions.
- Participate in accreditation maintenance and reaccreditation activities.
- Assist in the review of CBC policy and procedure, making recommendations for changes, enhancements, and additions based on best practices and compliance issues.
- Engage in systems analysis, evaluation, and delivery of trainings that increase staff skills as a contributing member of the LPD team.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in psychology, social work, or a related human service field.
- Minimum of three years' experience working as a child welfare professional.
- Child welfare training and/or supervision experience preferred.
- Current Child Welfare certification is preferred.
- May include other trainer-specific requirements as determined by FAC or certification needs.
