Responsibilities

• Perform all substance abuse training activities to ensure Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) and Management & Training Corporation (MTC) training requirements are met.
• Train all new clinical staff according to TDCJ, TDSHS and MTC standards/requirements for all payers and programs.
• Provide related assistance and guidance as required, and ensure specific training to meet clinical information needs in accordance with State and Federal regulations and program guidelines.
• Ensure that clinical staff complete training hours and recertification paperwork according to established guidelines, maintain an approved training schedule, and follow all requirements of the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals for obtaining Continuing Education Hours (CEHs).
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned within capabilities as determined by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), major course work in Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology or related field preferred.
• Current valid licensure as Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHSP), or current valid licensure as Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) licensed to conduct counseling in a treatment environment.
• Two (2) years full-time wage-earning experience in substance abuse treatment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

• Successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.
• Maintain credentials and/or licensure required to maintain employment in position.
