Training Program Lead
About the role
We are seeking a Training Program Lead for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) at Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL). In this role, you will ensure training requirements are defined, implemented, tracked, and continuously improved across SNS organizations, including support for facility users and nonemployee/student training. This position resides in the Reactor Certifications & Qualifications Group, Business Management Services Section, Research Reactors Division (RRD), Neutron Sciences Directorate at ORNL — note that despite the section name, this role supports the SNS, an accelerator-based facility. The SNS produces neutrons through spallation, using an accelerator to fire short proton pulses at a liquid mercury target, generating neutrons for instruments supporting research in physics, chemistry, biology, and materials science. ORNL is the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting research to deliver transformative solutions in energy and security.

- Support management of training requirements for facility users, nonemployees, and students, ensuring consistent processes and resolving issues with program staff.
- Help define and prioritize training initiatives; coordinate DTO activities to implement new requirements and corrective actions; represent SNS in ORNL-level training strategy planning.
- Serve as the primary instructional design resource for SNS-specific training, including developing documented training plans and reviewing and maintaining training records.
