Training Lead
About the role
The Training Lead at Arconic Lafayette Extrusions is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive training strategy that supports safe operations, operational excellence, workforce capability, and leadership effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a site-wide training strategy aligned with Arconic corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and Lafayette operational priorities.
Design structured job-specific training programs for hourly union roles, including onboarding, qualification, cross-training, and requalification.
Establish standardized training curricula, materials, assessments, and certification processes for manufacturing roles.
Ensure training programs support operational stability, quality, productivity, and risk reduction.
Partner with EHS leadership to design, deploy, and sustain mandatory safety training programs, including Lock/Tag/Verify (LTV), Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV), Crane Operation, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, PPE and task-specific risk mitigation.
Support incident prevention efforts through targeted training and skill reinforcement.
Design and deliver leadership training for supervisors and salaried leaders in a manufacturing environment, including Frontline leadership fundamentals, Safety leadership and accountability, Employee engagement and communication, coaching, performance management and corrective action.
Support leadership capability building aligned with Arconic leadership expectations and plant culture initiatives. Facilitate workshops, classroom sessions, and hands-on leadership learning experiences.
Deliver engaging, adult-learning-focused training sessions across hourly and salaried populations. Coach subject-matter experts, trainers, and supervisors on effective training delivery and skill transfer. Utilize a blended learning approach (classroom, on-the-job training, simulations, digital learning where applicable).
Manage site training records and ensure accurate tracking of training completion, certifications, and requalification requirements. Ensure timely completion of corporate required training across all employee populations.
Leverage learning management (LMS) and site tracking tools to monitor training effectiveness and compliance.
Evaluate training effectiveness using metrics, assessments, and feedback. Identify skill gaps and proactively develop training solutions. Benchmark best practices and continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, organizational development, engineering, or related field.
5+ years of training or learning & development experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Demonstrated experience delivering leadership training to frontline supervisors and plant leadership.
Experience designing and implementing hourly job-specific training programs including hands-on and on-the-job training.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing safety training requirements and regulatory compliance.
Strong organizational, project management and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence without authority and work effectively across functions.
Preferred Experience
In metals, extrusion, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital training platforms.
Background in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or operational excellence.
Experience supporting audits, regulatory inspections, or corporate compliance reviews.
