About the role
The Training and Development Specialist provides instruction and support in Loma Linda University Health's values, applications, and best practices to ensure clinical and administrative staff operate at the highest levels. Responsibilities include facilitating one-on-one evaluations and remediation, assessing staff readiness and computer abilities in the electronic health record, and contributing to the development of structured training programs and materials for electronic health record system applications.
Incorporates instructional methods such as lecture, audio/visual, workbook formats, and computer-guided tutorials. Initiates training communications, tip sheets, newsletters, and calendars. Manages the outpatient training queue and assists the LLEAP project team in solving training-related issues while maintaining extensive knowledge of systems and processes. Creates and maintains a robust curriculum portfolio and leads demonstrations and discussions with key stakeholders to optimize the training experience.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate one-on-one evaluations and remediation for staff.
- Assess staff readiness and computer abilities in the electronic health record.
- Develop structured training programs and materials for electronic health record system applications.
- Utilize various instructional methods (lecture, audio/visual, workbooks, computer-guided tutorials).
- Create and distribute training communications, tip sheets, newsletters, and calendars.
- Manage the outpatient training queue and assist the LLEAP project team with training-related issues.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain a robust curriculum portfolio.
- Lead demonstrations and discussions with key stakeholders to optimize training.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in education or a related field (experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
- Minimum one year of experience in classroom instruction or coaching (preferred).
- Credentialing in one of the department's curriculum applications to be completed within the first six months of employment.
Skills
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English with professional quality.
- Experience using computer, printer, and software programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills: relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, collaborate, and accept direction.
- Effective communication (in person, writing, and telephone) and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, organize and prioritize workload, and work well under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to distinguish colors, hear sufficiently for general conversation, and see adequately to read computer screens and documents.
