About the role
As a Training Coordinator with Unruled Masses, you will design and deliver Community Action Trainings that teach individuals and communities how to recognize specific types of corruption and take nonviolent, lawful civic action. You will work across teams to build curriculum, create materials, secure venues, grow attendance, partner for delivery, measure impact, and deliver trainings yourself.
Responsibilities
- Plan the Events: work with Events Manager to find venues, prepare events, and design training concepts.
- Build the Curriculum: develop training syllabi and curriculum; collaborate with the Corruption Research Program to build the research component, drawing on the Abuse Library and Corruption Intelligence File.
- Match Training to Action: work with the Civic Action Research team to identify appropriate nonviolent and lawful civic actions; weave them into the training.
- Create the Presentation Materials: build slide decks, facilitator guides, and other presentation materials in plain language and consistent with UM's accessibility standards.
- Conduct Surveys: create and administer during‑training surveys to gather feedback on effectiveness and readiness for civic action.
- Develop Handouts and Event Materials: work with the creative team to design handouts, take‑home guides, and other materials.
- Design In‑Person and Virtual Trainings: build both in‑person and online versions; make trainings educational, insightful, engaging, and entertaining.
- Secure Venues and Community Spaces: outreach to libraries, community centers, and other gathering places to secure accessible space.
- Grow Attendance: develop and carry out strategies to reach ordinary people who want to protect themselves and their communities.
- Partner on Delivery: connect with current and prospective partners in the civic action space to co‑deliver trainings.
- Measure Our Impact: design and prepare attendee surveys, collect and analyze feedback, track numbers of trainings delivered, people trained, understanding, confidence, and subsequent civic action.
- Deliver the Training: lead trainings yourself; potential to lead regional or multi‑city series, train and mentor new volunteer facilitators, help develop college campus chapters, adapt trainings for student audiences, help develop future Civic Materials Exchange and online versions, collaborate with the communications team to promote events and share insights on the Unruled Voices podcast, act as a subject matter expert during partner coalition sessions and co‑hosted events.
