Training and Development Specialist

About the role
The Training and Development Specialist, a key player on the Communications Learning and Development (CLD) team, develops, builds, and helps manage aspects of G&J Pepsi’s learning ecosystem. Their focus is working to serve internal customers by administering and supporting key aspects of G&J’s Learning Management System (LMS) and working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create training solutions that develop and build employee capabilities. They help to plan, develop, facilitate, and implement training programs that support company strategic objectives. This position works closely with the CLD manager on learning projects and cross-functionally and independently with employee groups and SMEs.
Daily responsibilities include documenting, developing, designing, testing, and deploying role-based learning paths, training plans, information resources, instructional materials, and learning tools to experienced and inexperienced learners.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a liaison between Learning & Development (L&D), business stakeholders, and learning service/content providers to support the effective delivery of learning solutions.
- Conducts training intake and needs analysis with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business partners to gather requirements and develop learning plans, courses, and supporting training materials.
- Creates, updates, and maintains assigned courses, learning plans, curricula, and training content for internal and external learning initiatives.
- Supports LMS administration activities, including learner enrollments, training records, user profiles, certifications, assessments, reporting, and data accuracy.
- Assists with LMS enhancements, testing, troubleshooting, upgrades, and process improvements to support learner and business needs.
- Tests, validates, and deploys learning content, learning plans, and system updates to ensure quality and effective learner experiences.
- Develops instructional materials, facilitator guides, presentations, training videos, tutorials, and other learning resources to support organizational training initiatives.
- Supports the design and delivery of learning experiences using a variety of instructional methods, including facilitation, e-learning, simulations, discussions, videos, and team activities.
- Documents and continuously improves the learner experience to enhance usability, effectiveness, adoption, and training satisfaction.
- Tracks and communicates project progress, learner participation, training completion metrics, user adoption, and other key learning analytics.
- Reviews, edits, and proofreads training materials and communications to ensure quality, consistency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Collaborates with CLD team members and business partners to support learning programs, learner engagement initiatives, and organizational development efforts.
- Develops and maintains learner communications, awareness campaigns, branding, and engagement strategies to promote learning opportunities and enhance the learner experience.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum – 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 1 – 3 years experience in course development, video editing, facilitation, and training preferred.
- Experience with the food and beverage industry is highly desired.
- Experience with LMS and HRIS platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of SCORM standards and various LMS delivery methods such as ILT, VILT, Video ILT, Hybrid ILT, and Web-Based Training.
- Proficient in operating computers, mobile devices, office equipment, and learning technologies.
- Proficient in Office 365 apps, SharePoint 2019, and video editing software.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint).
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and independently; multi-task; prioritize; be detail-oriented; meet deadlines in pressured situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop and deliver presentations.
