Job Description
Position Summary:
A Trainer in Mental Health, Substance Use Disorders & Developmental Disabilities is responsible for developing and facilitating continuing education courses focused on mental health, addiction, and developmental disabilities services. This includes delivering evidence-based training programs such as Mental Health First Aid, Narcan Training, and Assisted Outpatient Treatment presentations. Additionally, the role involves supporting major educational events like the Annual Town Hall on Behavioral Health Services, Being Awesome with Autism Annual Conference, and Nassau County Behavioral Health Symposium. The trainer also collaborates with the Nassau County Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency, and Developmental Disabilities Services to expand training opportunities.
- Develop and maintain training materials in digital and print formats.
- Utilize a system for collecting feedback and evaluating training effectiveness.
- Conduct program satisfaction surveys and needs assessments to improve and tailor future training initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferred:
- Experience developing and delivering mental health and addiction-related training programs.
- Strong understanding of mental health policies, evidence-based interventions, and community resources.
- Ability to conduct in-person, virtual, and hybrid training sessions.
- Experience in event coordination and public speaking.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Earned master’s or doctorate (preferred) in psychology, social work or a related field.
- Five to eight years related professional experience, especially around training; and demonstrated data management and analysis skills.
