Position Summary/Function
Provide training of job duties and practices to mental health technicians for the Crisis Center. Crisis MHT Trainer serves as a positive role model by establishing and maintaining positive, therapeutic relationships and appropriate boundaries with other staff, individuals and/or their families. Position will also provide intermediate skilled direct care and oversight to individuals served in the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and any associated units.
Duties
- Train mental health technicians in job procedures and duties
- Monitor individual’s behaviors and interactions with others
- Activities of daily living
- Facilitate educational groups
- Teach individual coping skills
- Encourage adherence to treatment requirements
- Perform safety observations
- May provide educational group facilitation when appropriate
- Order, properly store, and maintain appropriate quantity of food used for snack
- Maintain/ assist with the cleanliness of the unit as required
- Prepare snacks and/or meals for individuals as required by facility
- Aid in maintaining individual’s records in a professional manner and in accordance with all specified guidelines of SpectraCare Personnel Policy, SpectraCare Clinical Policy, including but not limited to the Alabama Administrative Code, CMS, and all other applicable regulating and contractual entities
- Operate system vehicles to include wheelchair/handicapped vehicles when transporting individuals
- Assist with helping individuals with basic living skills/functions and/or learning opportunities
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide training of job duties and practices to mental health technicians within SpectraCare’s Crisis Center
- Provide direct care and oversight to individuals served in the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and any associated units, temporary observation, mobile crisis teams including but not limited to: monitor individual’s behaviors and interactions with others, activities of daily living, safety observations and other duties as assigned
- Prepares snacks and/or meals for individuals as required by facility
- May provide educational group facilitation when appropriate
- Orders, properly stores, and maintains appropriate quantity of food used for snack
- Maintains/ assists with the cleanliness of the unit as required
- Aid in maintaining individual’s records in a professional manner and in accordance with all specified guidelines of SpectraCare Personnel Policy, SpectraCare Clinical Policy, including but not limited to the Alabama Administrative Code, CMS, and all other applicable regulating and contractual entities

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must have worked in SpectraCare’s Crisis Center
- Valid Driver's license and good MVR
- Must meet insurability requirements to drive a system vehicle (21 years of age)
- Pass background check and drug screen as required
