About the role

We are currently seeking a Trainee Lecturer in Computing to join our Computing and Digital Technologies department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across a range of courses, adapting teaching to meet individual learner needs and creating inclusive, safe learning environments.
  • Assessment, Monitoring & Student Progress – Prepare schemes of work, assess learner work to awarding-body standards, track progress, provide feedback and take timely action to ensure learners meet targets and deadlines.
  • Curriculum Development & Learning Resources – Research, develop and implement engaging learning materials, contribute to curriculum development and support vocational enrichment opportunities.
  • Quality, Administration & Collaboration – Complete all course administration accurately (registers, enrolments, withdrawals), take part in team meetings, support quality processes and engage in course reviews, surveys and student focus groups.
  • Professional Duties, Promotion & Compliance – Participate in marketing events and open days, uphold behaviour expectations and statutory safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD requirements while supporting the wider college community.

Qualifications & Subject Expertise

  • Degree in Computing (or substantial industry experience)
  • GCSE-level English and Maths
  • Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification, with strong knowledge of current developments in the Computing field

Teaching Experience & Curriculum Delivery

  • Recent experience teaching Computing subjects in a UK school, college or university
  • Able to deliver one or more specialist Computing topics to a high standard

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
