Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair of bulk trailers to meet DOT compliance standards
- Conduct daily trailer audits using the “Trailer Evaluation” process form to ensure compliance and effectiveness of maintenance processes
- Adjust, repair, or replace brake components to maintain safe, roadworthy trailers compliant with DOT regulations
- Maintain and repair other trailer systems, including suspension, frame, hopper, motor, hydraulic, air system, and electrical components
- Champion the Trailer Management Process
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local ordinances affecting the position
- Adhere to all company policies and programs
- Maintain valid licenses, certifications, and/or permits required for the role
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- DOT brake certification training
- 2+ years of experience in trailer repair and maintenance
- Welding skills a plus
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers (talking, hearing, seeing, and comprehension)
- Mobility of arms to reach and manipulate small objects
- Ability to stand for extended periods, reach, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds
Working Conditions
- Work is routinely performed in a general warehouse environment on a concrete surface, with frequent exposure to both internal and external conditions
- Frequent exposure to severe weather conditions (heat and cold)
- Frequent exposure to dust and noise levels exceeding normal thresholds
Personal Protective Equipment
- Must wear steel-toed boots
- Recommended: safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and other safety attire as guided by specific area requirements (provided by employer upon request)
- Personal protective equipment must be worn in accordance with SDS recommendations
