Trailer Technician II
Mesilla Valley Transportation is hiring Trailer Technicians in El Paso, Texas.
About the role
The Trailer Technician II repairs and maintains trailers to ensure operational efficiency and compliance, achieving recognition for key support within the team and promptly resolving issues as they arise under management direction.
Schedule
Tuesday–Saturday, 3:30 pm–12:00 am
Responsibilities
- Inspect and repair trailers according to company/OEM standards.
- Ensure equipment operates correctly and complies with Department of Transportation regulations.
- Perform DOT and general inspections.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues across trailer components.
- Repair damage to trailer panels, doors, hinges, floors, and axles.
- Weld and fabricate as needed for repairs.
- Repair or replace tires following company guidelines for PSI, wear, and tread depth.
- Conduct general fleet maintenance, including lights, air brakes, wheel ends, suspension, and other repairs.
- Document completed work, including 3Cs and notes in company maintenance software.
- Inspect and clean parts, order replacements as necessary.
- Verify proper equipment function post-repair.
- Use tools effectively to minimize downtime.
- Assist Trailer Supervisor with additional tasks as required.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two or more years’ experience in mechanic experience and/or training.
- Trailer Mechanic must be DOT certified.
- Licensed Mechanic Journeyman preferred.
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor environment.
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions including direct sunlight & heat.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
