About the role
We are seeking a Trailer Technician to specialize in preventative maintenance on trailers and refrigeration units. This role offers the opportunity to expand your trailer experience in a growing department with lateral opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and non-routine repairs to meet DOT standards
- Ensure lights are functioning properly and wiring is secure
- Repair or replace brakes, wheel seals, and suspension components
- Conduct preventative maintenance on refrigeration units on trailers
- Repair or replace airlines
- Maintain a clean and organized shop
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Basic toolset for job functions
- 2+ years of trailer technician experience
- Ability to read and understand operating manuals, service manuals, and written instructions
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Ability to clearly read, write, and speak English
- Basic math calculations
Preferred Qualifications
- Preventative maintenance experience on ThermoKing or Carrier units
- 609 Certification
Skills and Abilities
- Skilled with tools and DOT standards
- Experience with brakes, suspension, couplings, wheel seals, air lines, and reefer PMs
- Organized with a clean workspace
Physical Demands
- Maneuvering around, in, on, and under trucks/tight spaces to inspect and diagnose problems
- Standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body movements
- Using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Climbing ladders, stairs, and platforms
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
