Trailer Mechanic

About the role

This position is based at our Billings, MT branch located at 1635 North Frontage Road. Shift hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Pay

Pay range: $21.00 to $38.00 per hour, dependent on experience. Skill-based pay rate reviews and potential increases occur every 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, electrical, or other various systems on a tank trailer.
• Perform tank service and repair.
• Install and repair trailer suspension systems.
• Work with air brake systems and perform repairs.
• Conduct TIG welding on aluminum, stainless, or carbon (optional).
• Inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (HM183, hazmat).

Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• With assistance, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to fit through a tank trailer manhole.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.

Skills

Demonstrated skill in most of the following areas is preferred:

• Tank service and repair.
• Trailer suspension installation and repair.
• Air brake systems and repairs.
• TIG aluminum, stainless, or carbon welding (optional).
• Inspection of tanks and trailers to meet DOT standards (HM183, hazmat).
