TRAIL TECHNICIAN (PART-TIME, SEASONAL)

About the role

This is a part-time, seasonal position responsible for maintaining and improving Grand County’s trail systems. The role involves a mix of physical labor, equipment operation, and collaboration with local stakeholders to ensure safe and accessible trails for residents and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Construct, repair, and maintain natural surface and multi-use trails
• Clear brush, remove obstacles, and mitigate erosion issues
• Operate hand and power tools, including chainsaws, weed trimmers, and compactors
• Assist with trail signage installation and maintenance
• Coordinate with volunteers and partner organizations on trail projects
• Inspect trails for safety hazards and report issues to supervisors
• Participate in seasonal work such as snow removal or drainage improvements as needed

Requirements

• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varied weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Basic knowledge of trail maintenance tools and techniques
• Familiarity with Leave No Trace principles and sustainable trail-building practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
