Traffic Technician

Responsibilities

  • Controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects.
  • Discusses traffic routing plans and type and location of control points with superiors.
  • Distributes traffic control signs and markers along the site in a designated pattern.
  • Directs traffic movement through the site using sign, hand, and flag signals.
  • Warns construction workers when approaching vehicles fail to heed signals to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites.
  • Records license numbers of traffic control violators for the police.

Qualifications

  • Experience & Education/Certificate: 1-2 years of experience on construction sites.
  • GED/high school diploma or related work experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Able to work well independently or within a team.
  • Able to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure.
  • Able to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
