Traffic Supervisor / Crossing Guard

About the role

The Town of Wayland Police Department is seeking dependable and community-minded individuals to serve as a Traffic Supervisor/Crossing Guard during the school year from September to June. This essential role assists school children, parents and other pedestrians, in safely crossing streets near school zones by managing pedestrian and vehicle interactions during school arrival and dismissal times. The position is part‑time, averaging 5 hours per week, and is non‑union.

Responsibilities

• Assist school children, parents and other pedestrians in safely crossing streets near school zones.
• Manage pedestrian and vehicle interactions during school arrival and dismissal times.

Skills

• Ability to work outside in a variety of weather/temperature conditions.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Understanding of basic crossing procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills when working with children and families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification preferred.
• One (1) year of related experience preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $9,952 per year.

Schedule

Work schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM and 3:10 PM to 3:40 PM; Wednesday – 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM and 2:25 PM to 2:55 PM.
