Traffic Foreperson
About the role
You will run a team of Traffic Management Operatives and Fitters, ensuring deliveries arrive on time to customers, maintaining stock levels and equipment availability. You will support the Supply Chain Manager/Site Manager with health and safety in the depot, vehicle and driver compliance, and assist with the day-to-day running of the depot in the manager’s absence.
- Manage a team of Traffic Management Operatives and Traffic Management Fitters
- Liaise with the office and order additional staff if required
- Check the Logistics application to ensure it has been completed correctly by staff
- Ensure vehicles are loaded correctly with all equipment required for the hire
- Work with the fitter to maximise the full potential of the depot’s assets by maximising utilisation, quality, and availability to customers
- Check driver logbooks, ensure compliance, and handle any breaches; file paperwork correctly
- Complete and maintain vehicle files
- Complete stock checks—work with the SCM/SM to complete these on time
- Maintain stock levels and ensure sufficient equipment is available for hire
- Ensure suitable PPE is always worn; dispose of, reissue, and sign for damaged or replacement PPE
- Ensure audit compliance with SHEQ regulations and company policies across the site, including the timely management of non-compliances
- Assist the SCM with the day-to-day running of the location and take responsibility for the depot in the manager’s absence

Requirements
- Strong leadership, team development, and people management skills
- Thorough knowledge of Traffic Management policy and procedures
- Understanding of customer KPI and expectations
- Strong logistical background and asset control experience
- A thorough understanding of transport policy and procedure including WTD
- Experience in resource planning and colleague engagement skills to ensure strong levels of productivity
- Experience of managing multi-shift work patterns
- Knowledge of location budget and financial targets
- Streetworks Unit 10 and Lantra T6 qualification
- Driving licence essential
