About the role

As a Traffic Control Foreperson, you will train and coordinate work zone setups, lead teams of flaggers and technicians, and enforce safety regulations on heavy civil and highway construction projects. This supervisory role ensures the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians through work zones and construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Reads blueprints and job-related documents to properly plan work
  • Records daily events in job diary
  • Schedules materials, equipment, and work for the crew
  • Develops crew SIP’s and submits to site Foreperson
  • Tracks daily quantities and submits to site Foreperson
  • Conducts daily huddles with crew to establish production goals and ensures alignment
  • Communicates goals and purposes effectively; leads by example
  • Influences and enforces company values; addresses misalignments with culture
  • Proactively trains and mentors crew members to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Communicates courteously and professionally with customer representatives and inspectors
  • Performs all other duties of crew members as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR one year of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • 3-5 years of related construction, flagging, or MPT (Maintenance of Traffic) experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
  • Experience operating surveying instruments, shooting elevations, and straight lines
  • Experience with pile driving and drilling equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Basic computer skills, including internet, email, and digital documentation
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to travel as required for projects
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience and/or training
  • Experience operating heavy equipment used in highway construction
  • Supervisory experience
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
  • Talk and hear
  • Occasionally required to sit
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
