Traffic Analysis Engineer
Garver is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer in our St. Louis, MO office to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and a strong passion for the profession. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing projects for our DOT and municipal clients.
Responsibilities
- Performing traffic and safety studies
- Performing traffic simulation and level of service analysis
- Developing access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
- Developing traffic signal timing plans
- Preparing summary documentation and reports
- Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients
- Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progress
- Maintaining a client-focused, service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
- Preparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuits
- Performing direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients within our service area
- Mentoring less experienced staff
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 4–8 years of experience with traffic-specific projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual
- Working knowledge in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
- Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
- Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in civil engineering
- Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
- Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large sets of crash data to spatial map and analyze for trends and clusters
- Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
- Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
- Experience working with MoDOT and municipalities in Missouri
- Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
