About the role

Garver is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team in Dallas, TX. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing projects for DOT and municipal clients, with supervision from a Senior Project Manager and outstanding growth potential.

Responsibilities

  • Performing traffic and safety studies
  • Performing traffic simulation and level of service analysis
  • Developing access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Developing traffic signal timing plans
  • Preparing summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients
  • Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progress
  • Maintaining a client-focused, service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
  • Preparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuits
  • Performing direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients
  • Mentoring less experienced staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 4–8 years of experience with traffic-specific projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual
  • Working knowledge in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
  • Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
  • Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large sets of crash data to spatial map and analyze for trends and clusters
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
