Trading Operations Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Monitor quantitative execution engines and OMS in real-time during pre-market, market, post-market, and after-hours, focusing on pre-market dependencies, overfilled trades, rejected orders, missed orders, and broker connection issues; quickly identify problems and collaborate with development teams for resolution.
  • Continuously improve monitoring and alert systems (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus), optimize key business metrics and anomaly alert rules; document production incidents, participate in post-mortems, and drive subsequent improvements.
  • Handle pre-market trading preparations, including updating the daily trading universe and confirming stock borrowing availability and tradability with brokers via phone; update reference information post-market based on the latest data to prepare for the next trading day.
  • Perform daily bookkeeping confirmations with counterparties and clearing institutions, responsible for position reconciliation, cash reconciliation, profit and loss accounting, and discrepancy resolution to ensure internal books match broker records.
  • Develop and maintain operational automation scripts in Python/SQL for reconciliation, trade reporting, anomaly detection, and data validation to reduce repetitive manual tasks and lower operational risks.
  • Document system operation manuals, exception handling processes, and common issue solutions to establish standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in finance, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in trading operations/middle office at quantitative funds, hedge funds, or investment banks; experience with programmatic/algorithmic trading system monitoring preferred.
  • Understanding of the basic trading lifecycle for stocks and bonds, as well as foreign exchange hedging logic.
  • Proficient in Excel; skilled in using Python or SQL for data processing and automation script development.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written) for efficient phone communication with brokers.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills, able to make accurate judgments under pressure.
  • Familiar with Linux environments, capable of independent log troubleshooting, process checks, and resource monitoring.

Skills

  • Familiarity with time-series databases like ClickHouse or InfluxDB for querying and analyzing trading and monitoring data.
  • Experience with Grafana/Prometheus monitoring systems, alert rules, or dashboard development and maintenance.
  • Experience in developing monitoring alerts or automated reconciliation systems.
  • Knowledge of C++.
