Trades Technician I, II, III, or IV - Pump Stations

About the Role

This position performs journeyman trades duties, specializing in highly specialized equipment associated with wastewater pump stations. Depending on the level, the incumbent may serve as a lead worker, directing employees in maintenance, repair, or replacement of equipment. The role requires troubleshooting to determine causes of equipment problems and making timely repair or replacement decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, repairs, and general maintenance in the functional area.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Prepare materials and cost estimates for projects.
  • Maintain adequate levels of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with establishing safe construction sites, including directing traffic.
  • May serve as a lead, assigning and monitoring work while providing direction to staff.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing. The role may require on-call rotation, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications vary by level:

  • Trades Technician I (Grade A12(3)):
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid Driver’s License from state of residency.
    • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Trades Technician II (Grade B21(3)):
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and two years of trades experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid Driver’s License from state of residency.
    • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Trades Technician III (Grade B23(3)):
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and four years of trades experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid Driver’s License from state of residency.
    • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Trades Technician IV (Grade B31(3)):
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and five years of progressively responsible trades experience, some in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid Driver’s License from state of residency.
    • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Pay

  • Trades Technician I: $40,000 - $43,337
  • Trades Technician II: $44,968 - $51,713
  • Trades Technician III: $53,268 - $61,280
  • Trades Technician IV: $57,950 - $66,642
