Trades Technician I, II, III, IV (Water Production)

This position is responsible for performing journeyman trades duties, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of highly specialized equipment associated with all levels of the water treatment process. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs, scheduled maintenance, and preventative maintenance. Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies, and maintains electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery. Acts as a lead worker at higher grade levels, directing personnel in proper repair/replacement of equipment. Must be fully versed in predictive (condition-based) and precision maintenance technologies, able to troubleshoot equipment, and make accurate, timely repair/replacement decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of water/wastewater treatment equipment
• Conduct emergency/unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance
• Install, repair, overhaul, modify, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems and machinery
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair activities
• Direct personnel in proper repair/replacement of equipment (at higher grade levels)
• Troubleshoot equipment to determine root cause of problems
• Make accurate and timely decisions regarding repairs and replacements
• Work with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Supervise staff, prioritize and assign work, and maintain a safe working environment (Trades Technician IV)

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Georgia Driver's License
• Class A Commercial Driver's License (must be obtained within 12 months of employment)
• Water Distribution System Operator License (must be obtained within 12 months of employment for Trades Technician II and above)
• Prior experience in industrial equipment maintenance, completion of a training program or apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical trades, or experience in water/wastewater treatment plant equipment repair
• Basic understanding of electrical safety in an industrial plant
• Experience with predictive (condition-based) and precision maintenance technologies

Qualifications by Level

• Trades Technician I: No prior experience required beyond basic requirements.
• Trades Technician II: Two years of trades experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Trades Technician III: Four years of trades experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Trades Technician IV: Five years of progressively responsible trades experience, some in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay

• Trades Technician I: $43,336.00
• Trades Technician II: $44,968.00 - $58,458.00
• Trades Technician III: $53,286.00 - $69,272.00
• Trades Technician IV: $57,950.00 - $75,334.00

Schedule

• May require on-call rotation and emergency after-hours, weekends, and/or holidays
