Duties
Perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled, semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation and construction activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program;
- or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
Additional Comments
- Candidates must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated when required to operate motor vehicles.
- All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment.
- Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
- All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).
- For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
