Trades Generalist
About the Role
Perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled, semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.
Requirements
- Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
- When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Background Investigation
All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), including State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Prospective employees will be fingerprinted to obtain a record of their criminal history and may be required to pay associated fees.
- Prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) and may be required to pay associated fees.
- For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees, a check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs is required. Those found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from eligible lists.
