Job Summary

Uses mastery of trade skills and knowledge to recognize, document, and provide solutions to technical problems; known as a subject matter expert who has the ability to train and mentor cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solves technical problems using mastery of trade skills and knowledge along with proficiency in other trades.
  • Interacts fluently with those in other trades to complete work assignments and mentor on trade expertise.
  • Thoroughly understands Cummins' processes and equipment; makes recommendations to management on process improvements.
  • Provides technical leadership to cross-functional teams; uses mastery of trade to accelerate performance of others through training and development.
  • Is recognized as a subject matter expert; acts as a consultant for other teams to solve unique technical problems.
  • Develops training materials and documentation; conducts training programs.
  • Reports project performance or progress updates to management or Engineering.
  • Serves as company representatives in various capacities to customers, suppliers, and outside agencies.
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of employees throughout the company.
  • Exercises independent decision-making and initiative in determining what needs to be done and planning and implementing the needed activities.
  • Shares responsibility for and leadership of shift change meetings when necessary.
  • Shares work with exempt and other OCU employees as required.
  • Manages own work and maintain a flexible schedule in order to meet the demands of priority work.
  • Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.
  • Plans and engages in continuous learning in order to be prepared for changing work demands.
  • Travels as required by the position.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in a related field.

Experience

  • Department of Labor Certification OR four year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field OR associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train others.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the trade skillset.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand Cummins environment, work teams, equipment, and systems.

Skills Considered a Must For The Position

  • Support installation/configuration/troubleshooting of Cisco IOS LAN Switches.
  • Understand all network components, wiring and cabling methods, concepts, various applications and local building codes that must be adhered to.
  • Working knowledge of 3K, 4K and 9K Cisco platforms, L2 & L3 configuration, IOS upgrade, and ROMMON.
