Software Engineering Associate - OCU - Technical - 1st Shift

About the role

In this role, you will make an impact by leading the design, development, and support of software products. You will write and review documents and code, plan tests, and provide consultation, training, and application support for assigned products. This position involves resolving complex helpdesk tickets, providing customer support, and using Windows or UNIX operating systems.

• Leads software test procedures using open and closed loop simulators, desktop simulators, machine virtualization, and other test platforms; reviews test reports.
• Leads and participates in cross-functional reviews; collects, tabulates, and analyzes metrics; uses Six Sigma tools and other process improvement tools.
• Develops and maintains test plans; reviews test environment preparation and documentation; uses software testing tools and develops test software for automated testing.
• Debugs, compiles, and builds errors to source code; downloads software to target platforms and performs validation procedures.
• Uses configuration management and problem tracking systems to update and maintain product and problem databases.
• Leads corrective actions based on problem reports and change requests to ensure high-quality software products.
• Understands and applies company and department rules and guidelines; participates in maintaining quality procedures.
• Develops and conducts training programs; provides mentoring and coaching.
• Serves as a company representative to customers, suppliers, and outside agencies.
• Exercises independent decision-making and initiative; performs problem-solving, creative technical, and analytical work.
• Demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs; initiates and participates in improvement projects.
• Manages own work and maintains a flexible schedule to meet priority demands; participates in self- and team-audits.
• Travels as required by the position.

This position involves software calibration testing in an electronics laboratory. Responsibilities include bench and test setup, test execution, and troubleshooting. Requires the ability to review technical documentation and follow written procedures, as well as document technical solutions to problems.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with Department of Labor Certification OR an Associate’s degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Four years of combined experience and education are required, which can be fulfilled through a Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR an Associate’s degree in a related field with at least two years of relevant experience.

Skills

Required

• Knowledge of basic wiring, electricity, and electrical safety.
• Proficiency with computers and Windows applications (e.g., Excel, Word).

Nice to Have

• Programming experience (Python, LabVIEW).
• Electronics troubleshooting and soldering skills.
• National Instruments experience (Hardware: cDAQ; Software: TestStand/Veristand).
