Job Summary

Buys, repairs, and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. Performs tests in accordance with set test methods and works with relevant engineering functions to develop and execute testing. Drives continuous improvement in test setup and testing methods. Aids in analysis of test data. Works with performance engineers to develop measurement techniques; manages/leads test system and test article issue resolution process; manages system teardown consensus reviews, including data analysis, test and teardown reports. Participates in and leads Failure Mode Effects Analysis; performs data analysis, documents systems tests and calibration reviews in technical reports; presents test findings; prepares problem resolution Information for Failure Incident Reporting Group meetings; participates in problem solving teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and schedules tests; designs more effective test methods and equipment; develops and modifies testing software; develops and executes reliability/durability test plans; leads the troubleshooting process; verifies proposed solutions; organizes test schedules, issues, and document teardown observations; manages hardware upgrades; designs and procures fixtures for special tests; creates all test forms needed for raw data, posts hardware test measurements and test summaries; facilitates the prioritization process for testing and maintenance of the database.
  • Works with performance engineers to develop measurement techniques; leads development execution of customer/supplier agreements with test cell engineers; leads retest hardware compliance and provides test support to resolve test issues; manages/leads test cell and engine issue resolution process; manages engine teardown consensus reviews, including data analysis, test and teardown reports.
  • Participates in and leads Failure Mode Effects Analysis; performs data analysis and documentation of systems tests and calibration reviews in technical reports; presents test findings; prepares problem resolution Information for Failure Incident Reporting Group meetings; participates in problem solving teams for the Failure Incident Reporting Group and Rapid Problem Solving processes and maintains tracking systems for failed parts and warranty issues; may have responsibility for all issues of a specific component; advises internal and external customers in the repair and investigation of new failure modes; manages data entry to assure all failures are captured; leads Failure Incident Reporting Group meetings and reports on incidents by providing corrective actions; supports test cell, test vehicle, field test units and Original Equipment Manufacturing customers in troubleshooting control system related problems from both hardware and software perspective.
  • Understands and applies appropriate Company and department rules and guidelines to work and to systems; participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.
  • Develops and conducts training programs; provides counseling, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Serves as company representatives in various capacities to customers, suppliers, and outside agencies. Interacts effectively with all of employees throughout the company.
  • Exercises independent decision-making and initiative in determining what needs to be done and planning and implementing the needed activities; performs problem solving, creative technical and analytical work, budget management, and hands-on applications; coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks as they become evident; initiates, develops, leads, and participates in improvement projects.
  • Controls Safety - Recognizes controls related hazards in a manufacturing environment (Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic) to incorporate safe practices and procedures as part of the daily work plan to reduce injuries and create a safe machine environment.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
  • Tool and Fixture Design - Selects work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during a manufacturing process to secure their position to meet functional requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Four year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field OR associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience.
