Trader Development Program

About the role

DJJ, a division of Nucor Corporation, is seeking Sales/Trader candidates to buy and sell ferrous, non‑ferrous metals and ferroalloys, building a book of business and developing supplier and customer relationships. After an 8–10 week paid training program, traders are placed in one of Nucor’s district offices and brokerages across Ohio, Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, or Utah, with the expectation to relocate as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Buy and sell ferrous, non‑ferrous metals and/or ferroalloys to support Nucor’s raw‑material advantage.
• Prospect and develop new supplier and mill relationships.
• Manage contracts, payment terms, and supply‑chain logistics with customers.
• Collaborate daily with logistics teams, Nucor mill contacts, and open‑market accounts.
• Travel to supplier and customer sites (30–60 % of time).
• Relocate to any district office after training and as career advances.
• Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• 100 % willingness to relocate initially and throughout the career.
• Ability to travel 30–60 % of the time.
• Self‑starter who thrives working both independently and on a team.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).

Qualifications (Nice‑to‑Haves)

• Prior sales, trading, or customer‑service experience.
• Negotiation skills and commercial instincts.
• Curiosity about financial and commodity markets.

Pay

• Base salary of $77,000 per year.
• Return on Assets (ROA) bonus up to 33.9 % of annual pay.
