About the role
The Trade Settlements Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of domestic and international trade activity. STP supports a broad range of listed and alternative investment products, including Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Forwards, and Futures across global markets. This role requires daily interaction with custodians, brokers, clients, and internal partners to facilitate efficient post-trade processing and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end post-trade lifecycle, including trade transmission, matching, confirmation/affirmation, fail tracking, and exception resolution.
- Act as an escalation point for complex settlement issues, proactively driving resolution and ensuring risks are clearly communicated and mitigated.
- Ensure trade-related transactions are accurately recorded in the portfolio accounting system (Eagle).
- Support implementation efforts for new and existing clients, including onboarding, process design, and coordination across internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in and contribute to project initiatives related to process improvements, system enhancements, and operational scalability.
- Collaborate with global counterparts, custodians, and brokers to support cross-border settlement activity and resolve market-specific challenges.
- Maintain awareness of market events, regulatory changes, and custodian updates that may impact trading and settlement activity.
- Research and resolve complex, country-specific trade and settlement issues, leveraging subject matter expertise.
- Communicate effectively and confidently with counterparties, clients, and third-party vendors to ensure timely settlement and strong relationship management.
- Contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of standard operating procedures and internal documentation.
- Build and maintain strong day-to-day relationships with brokers, custodians, and internal teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry, specifically in middle or back-office investment operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Investments, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills
- Working knowledge of DTCC products (e.g., ALERT, CTM, TradeSuite), SWIFT messaging, or similar industry systems
- Strong client management, communication, organizational, and documentation skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience with Eagle Investment Systems
- Experience supporting domestic and both established and emerging global markets
- Prior involvement in implementation projects or exposure to project-based work environments
- Demonstrated experience informally leading or mentoring team members
