Trade Compliance Specialist
About the role
Rubbercraft is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to support the enterprise by ensuring business unit transactions comply with U.S. import laws (CBP) and export regulations (BIS).
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain import and export compliance processes and procedures aligned with CBP, ITAR, and EAR regulations.
Establish and manage master data, including HTS and ECCN classifications, valuation, and country of origin determinations.
Monitor export and import activities to ensure appropriate licensing and approvals are in place.
Prepare and submit export license applications, including exemptions and exceptions.
Manage and track export authorizations and ensure timely renewals.
Ensure compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
Conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments; implement corrective action plans.
Investigate and support resolution of potential compliance issues.
Monitor regulatory changes and recommend process improvements.
Partner with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Purchasing to ensure compliance across all transactions.
Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on trade compliance requirements.
Support vendor compliance and approval processes.
Support and enforce ITAR-related controls, including visitor access, data handling, and deemed export considerations.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export compliance.
Strong working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and U.S. Customs regulations (CBP).
Hands-on experience with HTS and ECCN classification and export licensing.
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) clearances.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Experience with systems such as ACE, Epicor, or similar.
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.
Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries preferred.
