About the role
The Trackman is a physically demanding position responsible for ensuring the track, bridgework, and railroad right-of-way are in good repair to provide safe and efficient railroad operations for passengers and employees.
Responsibilities
- Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement Core Values and Cultural Pillars.
- Ensure the railroad and right-of-way are in good repair and provide for safe and efficient railroad operations.
- Replace railroad ties and rails as directed.
- Assist in repair of bridges and culverts where needed and as directed.
- Clean right-of-way as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year’s work experience in a labor or construction position.
- At least 19 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous railroad experience.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy work, lifting and pulling up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis.
- Stop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis.
- Walking long distances over uneven terrain.
- Must meet auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection thresholds.
- Exposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis.
Pay
$21.20 an hour
Schedule
Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays).
