Trackman - Full Time

About the role

The Trackman is a physically demanding position responsible for ensuring the track, bridgework, and railroad right-of-way are in good repair to provide safe and efficient railroad operations for passengers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement Core Values and Cultural Pillars.
• Ensure the railroad and right-of-way are in good repair and provide for safe and efficient railroad operations.
• Replace railroad ties and rails as directed.
• Assist in repair of bridges and culverts where needed and as directed.
• Clean right-of-way as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year’s work experience in a labor or construction position.
• At least 19 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous railroad experience.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy work, lifting and pulling up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis.
• Stop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis.
• Walking long distances over uneven terrain.
• Must meet auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection thresholds.
• Exposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis.

Pay

$21.20 an hour

Schedule

Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays).
