Track Project Manager, Emerging Talent Intern (Fall)

About the role

Railroad Program Support is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, quality, and safety of LIRR In-House Force Account crafts and projects. Our department goal is to manage critical infrastructure assets to maintain operating conditions which include safety, reliability, efficiency, longevity, and customer service.

The intern supports project management tasks by preparing reports, agendas, and meeting minutes, as well as reviewing project billing. They also conduct site visits when needed and work closely with an experienced team member to accomplish both short- and long-term project goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating, updating, and organizing project documents such as plans, reports, and meeting minutes.
• Help facilitate communication by scheduling meetings and sending out updates.
• Assist in creating and updating project timelines, tracking milestones, and managing deadlines.
• Help with tracking resource allocation and identifying potential resource conflicts.
• Support the manager with risk management by identifying potential risks and assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
• Help with tasks related to quality control, ensuring they meet standards, and identifying areas for improvement.
• Assist in tracking progress of projects and reporting on their status.
• Organize project folders and assist with other administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
• Organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Keen eye for detail and ability to work independently while being an active team player.

Qualifications

• Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
• Preferred majors: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
