About the role

Carlisle Construction Materials LLC (CCM) is a diversified manufacturer and supplier of premium building products and related technologies for the commercial and residential construction markets. We are now hiring Production Operators to join our team in Carlisle, PA. In this position, you will operate various types of production equipment. We will train dependable individuals with a desire to work as a part of a team in a successful and growing manufacturing company.

Responsibilities

• Operate the compounding station, blending station, extruder, calendar, winder, and packaging to produce TPO sheeting products
• Complete production and quality assurance (QA) paperwork
• Follow the Total Product Maintenance program and maintain 5S requirements
• Set up equipment and produce product by following processing specifications
• Assume the role of Team Leader when required due to vacations, meetings, and absenteeism of the TPO team leader
• Calculate and report output
• Identify product and track output using SFIS (Shop Floor Information System) equipment
• Complete maintenance work orders
• Verify accuracy of productivity and quality assurance information generated during the shift, and pursue corrections for inefficiencies
• Train new crew members
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED
• No previous manufacturing experience required

Skills

• Processing specifications and grading standards for all products produced on the TPO line and at compounding and blending lines
• Operation of the SFIS, NDC, and the HMI process control computer
• Operation of the extruder, 3 roll calendar, bridge crane, sheet winder, and packaging machines
• Fork truck operation
• Reading and comprehension of processing specifications, grading standards, EDC prompts, SFIC prompts, gauges, and meters
• Mathematical calculations including output, sheet length, linear feet, and basic algebraic equations
• Completing work orders, Lockout/Tagout book entries, incident reports, production paperwork, and quality assurance paperwork
• Computer skills including SFIS computer, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for electronic communications, reports, check sheets, and method sheets
• Problem solving and troubleshooting
• Communicating with crew members, supervisors, and other plant members
• Training new crew members
• Completing safety training
• Driving a fork truck

Equipment & Data Used

• Equipment: Computers, fork truck, overhead cranes, twin screw mixer, 3 roll calendar, compounding line, blending line, SFIS terminals, printers, and all other auxiliary equipment at the lines
• Tools: Knives, scissors, thickness gauges, tape measures, writing utensils, and miscellaneous hand tools for minor adjustments
• Data: Processing specifications, grading standards, internal office memos, quality reports, production schedules, SFIS reports, and electronic communications

Work Environment

• Plant ambient temperature in the summer matches outside temperature; plant is heated in the winter
• Exposure to loud noises, solvent fumes, mica dust, and combustible dust (PPE provided)
• May be required to work in confined or elevated spaces
• Heavy machinery includes fork truck, bridge cranes, hoists, gantry crane, and tow motor
• Sharp edges on knives and pinch points on moving mechanical equipment
• Uniforms are issued and laundered by company
• Fast-paced environment

Schedule

• Rotating shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Monday – Friday with Saturday/Sunday overtime as business requires

Pay

• Starting pay: $27.21/hr
• After 6 months: $34.40/hr
• $1.00 shift differential per hour while working 3rd shift
• $1.50 shift differential per hour while working 2nd shift

• Lifting: Up to 50 lbs
• Pushing & Pulling: Up to 50 lbs
• Bending & Stooping: While watching and operating machines
• Reaching: Above shoulder level
• Climbing: Using step ladders and on mezzanines
• Standing: Majority of the shift
• Walking: To and from areas of the plant
• Seeing: Recognizing hazards, warnings, and machine malfunctions
• Talking & Hearing: Communicating effectively with crew members, supervisors, and others
