Town Accountant

About the role

The Town of Danvers is seeking a Town Accountant to manage the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage and audit the municipal accounting system
• Administer internal and external financial reporting
• Perform accounting operations and financial management tasks
• Coordinate with the Danvers Retirement Board
• Support board and committee responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 5-7 years of experience, 3+ years in municipal accounting
• Master’s degree preferred
• Ability to be bonded
• Massachusetts Certified Governmental Accountant certification or CPA certification preferred
• Committed to providing service excellence

Benefits

Pay

• $101,511.90 to $139,525.05 annually
• Additional stipend of $1,500 annually for serving on the Danvers Retirement Board

Schedule

• 35 hours per week
• Monday–Wednesday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Thursday: 8:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
