Town Accountant
About the role
The Town of Danvers is seeking a Town Accountant to manage the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Manage and audit the municipal accounting system
- Administer internal and external financial reporting
- Perform accounting operations and financial management tasks
- Coordinate with the Danvers Retirement Board
- Support board and committee responsibilities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 5-7 years of experience, 3+ years in municipal accounting
- Master’s degree preferred
- Ability to be bonded
- Massachusetts Certified Governmental Accountant certification or CPA certification preferred
- Committed to providing service excellence

Pay
- $101,511.90 to $139,525.05 annually
- Additional stipend of $1,500 annually for serving on the Danvers Retirement Board
Schedule
- 35 hours per week
- Monday–Wednesday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
