About the role
The Town of Danvers is seeking a Town Accountant to manage the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Manage and audit the municipal accounting system
- Administer internal and external financial reporting
- Perform accounting operations and financial management tasks
- Coordinate with the Danvers Retirement Board
- Support board and committee responsibilities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 5-7 years of experience, 3+ in municipal accounting
- Master’s degree preferred
- Ability to be bonded
- Massachusetts Certified Governmental Accountant certification or CPA certification preferred
- Committed to providing service excellence to the community
Qualifications
- Experience in personnel management
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, town bylaws, and professional accounting standards
Skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software
Benefits
- Management pay scale range: $101,511.90 to $139,525.05
- Annual stipend of $1,500 for serving on the Danvers Retirement Board
- Excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, pension system, 457 plan, municipal retirement plan, and paid time off
Pay
- Hiring rate determined by the Town
Schedule
- 35 hours per week
- Monday–Wednesday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
