Tower Technician

About the Role

The Tower Technician is responsible for all tower-related functions in the Tower Construction department, including tower builds, deconstructs, technical testing of antennas, installation of tower components, hanging antennas and dishes, installing lines or other cellular components, site build-outs, and grounding towers and buildings. This role requires climbing towers or other structures and working in teams of two when traveling and climbing.

Responsibilities

• Plan schedules, including crew coordination, customer contact, site access, subcontractor communication, supervisor updates, and parts ordering.
• Climb various types of telecommunication towers to install antennas, dishes, cables, and stand-offs.
• Build and deconstruct towers.
• Dig trenches for grounding towers and buildings to R56 standards, drive ground rods, and perform cad welding.
• Travel up to 75% of the time as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, plus a minimum of 1 to 2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in general labor, carpentry/framing, concrete work, or equipment operation (e.g., excavator, dozer, skid steer).
• Willingness to climb and no fear of heights (climbing certification or experience is not required but preferred).
• Hand tool and power tool experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Authorized Climber & Competent Climber/Rescue certification.
• OSHA Construction 10 HR Safety Training or OSHA 10-Hour Safety Card.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• CDL.
