Tour Guide / Actor, The Ruins of Earth
About the role
leo&hyde are a Manchester-based musical theatre company seeking a Mancunian or Manchester-based tour-guide or actor to lead audiences through Manchester in The Ruins of Earth—a theatrical walking tour where audiences imagine themselves as futuristic beings visiting the remnants of human civilisation, led by tour guide X2-729.
What We're Looking For
- Walking tour experience — familiar with the tropes and dynamics of walking-tours to bring this experience into the show
- Warm and comedic — able to ensure the tour is funny and relatable whilst creating a safe, intimate space for the audience
- Sci-fi — a love for sci-fi is great; the role involves embodying a "fictional universe" so you can improv according to its rules where appropriate in the tour
Rehearsals
A mixture of self-led time learning the script, and time with Leo and team working to develop a route, and giving directorial feedback and an outside eye on the script delivery.
Schedule
- Rehearsals: 6 days (late July / early August, flexible dependent on mutual availability)
- Performances: 4 days (5th / 6th August, 3rd / 4th September)
- Dependent on mutual availability and ticket sales, additional weekend performances will be added and paid at £100/day for 2-3 tours a day
Pay
Flat fee of £1090 (no additional expenses) to cover rehearsals and the 4 performance days.
