Tort, Transportation, and Specialized Litigation Attorney - Richmond, VA

About the role

Butler Snow LLP is seeking a lawyer to join their Tort, Transportation and Specialized Litigation practice group in their Richmond, Virginia office. The practice group handles various types of tort and personal injury claims, including trucking accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, workplace accidents, wrongful death, business fraud, and more.

Responsibilities

• Be a strategic part of litigation teams
• Confer and communicate directly with clients and client representatives
• Work up cases proactively and effectively through discovery, issue-spotting, and research
• Participate in trial preparation and trials
• Take depositions and examinations under oath
• Prepare and argue motions
• Prepare coverage opinions and reports for insurance company clients

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Juris Doctor
• 3 to 5 years of litigation experience (including trial experience)
• Active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar
• Must be admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia
• Experience with civil discovery, motions practice, and brief writing (trial and appellate)
• Experience with taking and defending depositions
• Excellent research and writing abilities
• Experience clerking for a State or Federal Judge preferred (but not required)
